ę RPS ENGINEERING

WHO ARE WE

RPS Engineering is a Black Economic Empowerment South African Consulting Electrical & Mechanical Engineering Firm.  Our executive team obtained their grounding as Electrical and Mechanical Engineers in diverse Industry Sectors through which the wealth of experience in the company is based. VISION

RPS Engineering’s vision is to become a reputable Electrical, Mechanical and Facilities Management Engineering Consulting firm which consistently delivers beyond the expected quality service by its customers while earning competitive returns.

MISSION STATEMENT

BASIC PURPOSE

The basic purpose of RPS Engineering is to provide appropriate solutions in the various phases of the Engineering Services business while earning equitable returns.

WHAT WE DO

Our principal business is to provide Project Management, Engineering Consultancy and Facilities Management Services to a wide range of customers.  All our activities shall be consistent with our responsibilities to our shareholders, customers, employees and the public and our concern for the optimum development and utilization of resources.

HOW WE DO IT

q  Our first responsibility is to all the people who use our products and services. In meeting their needs, everything we do must be of high quality, in pursuit of which Continuous Improvement Process (CIP) will be our guiding principle. We will consistently strive to reduce costs in order to maintain reasonable and competitive prices.

q  We are responsible to the communities we live and work in.  We support community good works and charities and pay our fair share of taxes.  We are committed to the principles of fair and free competition.  We promote education and training, particularly amongst the previously disadvantaged communities.  We endeavour to maintain good order on all the properties we are privileged to use and protect the environment and natural resources.  In pursuit of Corporate Social responsibility we try to be officials must be actively involved in community affairs through Liaison Committees and any other established channels.

q  Our final responsibility is to our shareholders. Our goal is to earn an optimum return on investment, using prudent, ethical and farsighted management.  It is for this reason that we vigorously pursue well measured continuous growth because we realize that we cannot maintain a position of strength and leadership without it.  Growth is also important for us to attract the high calibre people that we need.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT AND EMPOWERMENT INITIATIVES

Traditionally, businesses have in the main, concerned themselves with profit maximisation with scant regard to social issues like skills, training, empowerment and employment creation.  The new democratic dispensation now requires this view to change somewhat, largely due to social pressures by non-governmental organizations, civil society and governmental initiatives.

At RPS Engineering, social development and empowerment issues are at the heart of our operations.  This comes naturally, perhaps because of our nature as a Black Economic Empowerment Corporation.  We are convinced that it is not only desirable, but also indeed necessary to create wealth while solving social problems.

RPS Engineering has taken a conscious decision to actively encourage community involvement in all our activities.  This way, skills will be developed, employment created and economic activities stimulated in the underdeveloped communities.

Our aim is to promote the Community Co-ordination Committees concept and in the following brief discussions, we indicate how these would work in project management:

q  All our projects, as far as is possible and in consultation with client needs, would have to be designed and implemented in such a way that they are labour intensive.

q  Equipment and materials should be provided so that they do not act as barriers for the small community based contractors.

q  As far as possible, all community-based projects should have a training component so that previous experience and skills do not deter the small contractors.

q  Project documentation should be as simple as possible to enable the inexperienced contractors and labourers to do the work.

q  Management of all Institutional Electrical Services including Planning, Procurement, Installation, Repair and Maintenance.

q  Management of all Institutional Mechanical Services.
